GENERAL ITEMS

GENERAL ITEMS ARE ESSENTIAL ANCILLARY PRODUCTS AND TOOLS THAT FACILITATE THE PREPARATION, APPLICATION, AND FINISHING OF RESIN AND FIBREGLASS PROJECTS. FIND THE DATASHEETS FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE

VACUUM BAG

  • VACUUM BAG is a flexible, airtight bag used in composite manufacturing to create a strong and lightweight part. Its purpose is to compress fiberglass and resin against a mold by using a vacuum pump to remove all the air from inside the bag. This process, known as vacuum bagging, forces out excess resin and trapped air bubbles, resulting in a part that's much stronger and has a better fiber-to-resin ratio than a hand-laid part.

BREATHER CLOTH

  • BREATHER CLOTH is a critical component in the vacuum bagging process that ensures proper air evacuation and pressure distribution, leading to a higher quality, more consistent composite part. 
  • BREATHER CLOTH SIZE: 1600MM WIDE

TACKY TAPE

  • TACKY TAPE is a sticky, flexible sealing tape used in a process called vacuum bagging. Its purpose is to create an airtight seal between the vacuum bag and the mold, preventing any air from leaking into the layup. This allows the vacuum pump to pull all the air out, which compacts the fiberglass and resin to create a stronger, lighter, and void-free part.

PEEL PLY

  • PEEL PLY is a woven, non-stick fabric, that is used as a crucial item in composite lamination. It is placed directly on top of the wet resin and fibreglass laminate before the resin cures.  
  • PEEL PLY SIZE: 1000MM WIDE

MAMOET CLAY

  • MAMOET CLAY is a versatile, non-curing, and non-reactive material that helps with the setup and preparation phase of a fibreglass and resin project. 

GLUE STICKS

  • GLUE STICKS are used to quickly bond lightweight materials. 

RELEASE FILM

  • RELEASE FILM is a thin, flexible sheet of plastic  that is used to prevent fiberglass and resin from sticking to unwanted surfaces. It acts as a non-stick barrier, ensuring that the finished product can be easily separated from a mold, a work surface, or other materials used in the process. It's a simple tool that saves a lot of time and effort by allowing a smooth and clean release after the resin has cured.

PROPLUG - CEMENTIOUS WATERPROOF PLUGGING COMPOUND

  • PROPLUG is used to instantly stop active water leaks and seepage in concrete and masonry (Datasheet available).  

NON-SLIP SAND ADDITIVE

  • NON-SLIP SAND is a granular material used to create a textured, slip-resistant surface on fiberglass and resin applications. Its purpose is to improve traction and safety on surfaces that would otherwise be smooth and slippery, especially when wet.

CLEANING RAGS

  • CLEANING RAGS are used for clean-up and maintenance throughout a project.

MIXING BROOM STICK

  • MIXING BROOM STICK can be used for stirring and mixing large quantities of resin and catalyst in a bucket or container. 

WOODEN MIXING STICK

  • WOODEN MIXING STICK is used to thoroughly mix resin and catalyst. It's purpose is to ensure that the two components are fully and evenly blended together before application.  

WOODEN STICKS

  • A tongue depressor/small wooden stick, is a simple, disposable tool used for mixing and applying small amounts of resin. Its purpose is to act as a stirrer and a small applicator, making it easy to mix resin with hardeners and other additives, or to apply resin into tight spaces or for small repairs. Because they are cheap and disposable, they are a convenient tool for working with sticky materials like resin.

MEASURING CUP

  • MEASURING CUP is essential for the precise and repeatable mixing of resin and hardener, which is the foundation of a successful fibreglass project. 

PAPER PAINT STRAINERS

  • PAPER PAINT STRAINERS are cone-shaped funnels with a fine mesh filter at the bottom, and they are used to remove impurities from liquid. 

PAPER CUPS

  • PAPER CUPS are used as disposable, single-use containers for mixing and measuring. 

PLASTIC PIPETTE FOR CATALYST

  • PIPETTE is a small, disposable, graduated tool used to precisely measure and dispense small, specific amounts of catalyst into resin.

SPACKLE SET

  • SPACKLE SET is used for applying resin-based fillers, remove old paint, rust and glue, and for seamless wall repairs. Its purpose is to help fill and smooth out holes, cracks, and uneven surfaces in a project to get a professional, finished look.

SQUEGEE FLEX

  • SQUEGEE FLEX is a tool used to spread resin evenly over a fiberglass surface. Its purpose is to push the resin into the fabric, remove excess resin, and force out any trapped air bubbles. Its flexibility allows it to conform to curves and contours, ensuring a smooth and consistent layer of resin without wasting material.

SILICONE RUBBER

  • SILICONE RUBBER is primarily used to create flexible molds for casting with resin. Its main purpose is to capture the fine details of an original object and allow for easy, non-destructive removal of the cured resin part. It's an excellent mold-making material because it is non-stick, very flexible, and can withstand the heat generated during the resin curing process.

SNAP BLADES

  • SNAP BLADES are used to cut fiberglass fabric, reinforcement materials, and other items during composite layup. Their main purpose is to provide a constantly sharp cutting edge. As the tip becomes dull from cutting tough materials, the user can simply snap off the worn section to expose a new, sharp blade underneath, which makes cutting quick and efficient.

STANLEY BLADES

  • STANLEY BLADES are the replacement blades for a utility knife. Their main purpose when working with resin and fiberglass is to cut fiberglass fabrics, carbon fiber, and other reinforcement materials. They are extremely sharp and durable, making them ideal for a wide range of cutting tasks during the layup process, from trimming excess fabric to shaping the final product.

SUNCURE ADDITIVE

  • SUNCURE ADDITIVE is a special chemical mixed into polyester or vinyl ester resins to make them harden rapidly when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, like sunlight. Its purpose is to speed up the curing process dramatically, allowing the resin to cure in minutes rather than hours, which is ideal for quick repairs or applications in bright, sunny conditions.

OPTICAL BRIGHTENER

  • OPTICAL BRIGHTENER are used to enhance the appearance of the color of a fabric, causing a whitening effect. 

ACCELERATOR

  • ACCELERATOR is a chemical additive used with some resins, particularly polyester and vinyl ester resins, to speed up the curing or hardening process. Accelerator is highly flammable.
